Brief Description:  Finished (maybe) the oil filler door.

I got a late start today, but I managed to finish the oil filler door installation. The spring loaded hinge was riveted to the oil door using five -3 flush rivets. The hold down Skybolt quarter turn receptacles were were riveted after the holes were drilled into the cowling, then the camlocks were added to holes drilled into the oil filler door.

After the install I closed the door using a Phillips screw driver to turn the camlocks. The oil door had to be pushed slightly down and back toward the hinge before the camlocks would align correctly with the receptacles on the cowling. I may have drilled the oil door holes slightly off. I did my best to drill accurately on the curved door, but maye not good enough. The spring hinge seems to push the door up in the middle when locked close. The door is not quite stiff enough to fit flush and leaves about 1/16" gap-up by the hinge area. I'll probably have to add some glass cloth to the inside surface to stiffen it and keep it from bulging out.

Now I understand why some builders fabricate an aluminum door! I'll have to think about it.
