Brief Description: More intersection fairing work & oil filler door i
Today we added another layer of cloth to the leg-to-wheel pant intersection fairings. A messy job until we cleocoed them to the wheel pants which we had to prep with tape and mold release wax. We let them start curing a bit before clecoing them to the pants. We'll let them cure on the pants over night to obtain the correct shape, and then remove them tomorrow to sand, fill, and cut at the split line. After the prep, we'll bond them onto the fore and aft pants with epoxy.
We started the oil filler door install today by cutting the hole into the cowling at the molded lines. We had already purchased the spring loaded door hinge from Avery, so we riveted the piano hinge half to the cowling before quitting for the day. Tomorrow I'll rivet the oil filler door to the other half of the curved hinge and install the Skybolt camlock quarter turn receptacles and phillips lock pins. Enough work for this week!!
