Brief Description:  Temporarily attached interface fairings.

Today I temporarily attached the interface fairings using spring clamps. The fairings were purchased from Fairings-Ect. and are purposely made flimsy to form around the wheel pants and lower fuselage/wing to gear leg. Once I decide how to attach them to the wheel pants and fuselage/wing, they will be trimmed and layed up with more layers of glass cloth for rigidity and strength.

The attachment to the wheel pants will be to expoxy the fairing to the pants after cutting a fore and aft portion that will come off with fore and aft pant. The upper interface fairing will be attached to the fuselage and the underlapping wing to fuselage skin using four nutplates and screws.

The main gear fairing must be aligned to the free stream wind. We had previously determined this while the airplane was jacked off the floor, but today I seemed to be questioning our marks on the fairings and gear legs for streamlining. Trying to make a measurement on the fairings is ludicrous. We used the template to determine the fairing center line over the gear leg center line, but it just didn't look right. Measuring the template and transfering the dimensions to the trimmed fairing yields confusing results. This is due to the curvature and odd parallelogram shape of the fairing. I think the old eyeball method will be used for this situation. If it looks right it probably is right.
