Brief Description: Installed Skybolt camlocks on upper cowling.
Today I installed the upper cowling and checked the trim line and it was 1/16" gap from the fuselage skin. Great! Better than I had thought it would be. Charlotte took a cirlce templete and drew 15/32" holes on the cowling by matching the flange holes while I shined a light below the cowling. She was very meticulous and accurate. She would acetone it off and redraw if she didn't like it. We then removed the cowling after I had drilled 1/8" pilot holes, and used a unibit to drill out the holes to final size. I then riveted the camlock receptacles to the FW flanges.
We then reinstalled the cowling and I used the Skybolt pliers to install the studs into the grommets. I then inserted the studs/grommets into the receptacles and adjusted the head to a near flush position. Later I will remove the antilock pins from the receptacles when we determine the final flush position of the locked studs. It's finally coming toghether!
