Brief Description:  Continued with ELT antenna.

I decided to install the antenna per the manual recommendation and located it just aft of the F-708 bulkhead on top of the tailcone about 18" in front of the vertical stab. I made a doubler out of 0.040 Al sheet which measured 3 1/2" square with a large radius on each corner. I had to wait for Aircraft Spruce to send my Alodine order but it arrived in 3 days. After alodining the doubler and fuselage skin, I used eight 326AD3-4 rivets to attach the doubler. Charlotte flush riveted while I bucked lying on my back in the tailcone. I then match drilled a 9/16" hole through the skin and doubler. I attached the antenna using a little RTV for sealant.

I still have to run the ELT control wire forward to the instrument panel and mount the control panel. This ELT installation is a real pain in the you know where.

The coax antenna cable was run from the antenna, down the F-708 bulkhead, along the bottom skin, over the F-707 bulkhead, and then attached to the ELT. Several stickon zip-tie mounts were used to secure the antenna cable to the bulkhead and bottom skin.
