Brief Description: Drilled holes and installed zip-tie mounts.
I will be installing the VOR antenna under the empenage just behind the last fuselage bulkhead. I'll have to fabricate a doubler that will connect to the bulkhead and bottom skin. I decided to install zip-tie mounts down both sides of the tunnel and on the rib behind the baggage area. Using the 90 degree drill, I climbed into the fuselage with my 6" scale and autopunch and located and drilled the 1/8" holes. My Stanley hand pop-rivet tool was used to fasten the mounts using LP4-3 blind rivets. I only bumped my head at least a dozen times!
I also drilled a 5/8" hole for a dash 8 snap bushing into the bulkhead at the rear of the baggage on the left side. I then drilled another 5/8" hole with its bushing on the left tunnel wall (looking aft) 1 1/4" infront of the bulkhead. I will route the VOR coax from the empenage area through two bulkheads that I still have to drill holes through. It will run down the left tunnel wall then pass through the spar, under the boost pump, up the firewall, and then back to the radio stack.
