The GPS 496 power/data cable allows one to wire aircraft power to the gps as well as the data in/out wires to the HS34. The red wire was connected to the E-Bus with a 1 amp fuse. The black ground wire was connected to the avionics ground bus. By wiring the data cable to the HS34, the EFIS HSI can display gps nav data and track an activated gps route(course). It also allows the the EMS to calculate waypoint fuel and winds aloft (with OAT that will be wired). The gps blue data wire was entered into an D-sub 9 connector and split three ways to connect to the HS34, EMS, and GTX327 transponder. The xponder connection supposedly allows an automatic (Stby to On) signal on takeoff and an (On to Stby) signal on landing.
