Today I connected the power supply to the aircraft and added the appropiate fuses to the E-Bus to check out the gps pwr/data cable.
I took the GPS496 and connected the nav and XM antennas and then plugged in the stereo miniplug. I snapped the 496 into the Gizmo holder and turned on the master switch. The gps automatically turned on and after I entered OK into the disclaimer, it started aquiring the satellites. I plugged in my headset and immediately heard XM radio broadcastintg loud and clear. I then entered simulator mode to check for alerts by flying at a low altitude. The alerts came in much more clear on aircraft power than the gps internal battery power. I then turned off the master switch and the 496 warned of the power off and said it was now operating on its internal battery. Wow!
