Brief Description: prepare W-1201C-L, mod rear spar rivets
Prepare W-1201C-L wing walk, deburr and dimple and test fit 1.25 hours
1.25 hours. See 14-03 notes in my plans. Modify bottom row and 3 up from bottom on the left rear wing spar doubler W-1207B inboard end. Replace surface rivets with CS4-4 flush rivets. This is done to avoid possible interference with flaperon. This was done per suggestion by Scott Malcomb (RV-12 builder, Eagles Nest) at Oshkosh 2014 and Vans Aircraft email. See picture of finished mod. Here is body of email from Vans to Scott approving the mod:

Both agreed that the offending rivets could be replaced with CS4-4 rivets to alleviate the interference issues. The rivets are predominantly in shear to the head shape should not affect the strength much. > > Another possible fix would be to lightly file the heads to remove any rough edges. > > Best Regards, > > Joe Blank > Airshow Coordination - Builder Support > joeb@vansaircraft.com > www.vansaircraft.com > 503-678-6545
