Brief Description:  Started Work on the Fuel Selector Cover Pieces

I laid out the dimensions of the parts that I need to make for the fuel selector cover. I decided to make the bracket that will hold the manual trim control removable from the fuel selector cover itself. This bracket will be separate from the fuel selector cover. A U-shaped cutout for the fuel selector will be made in the bracket. Nutplates will be installed on this bracket. The bracket and the top cover will be cut out of .063" 2024-T3 aluminum. Side covers will be made from .040" 2024-T3.

I could not find the two F-699 brackets and so made one out of the trimmed-off end of the F-6118 bracket. This bracket ties the firewall to the rudder pedal assemblies. I had trimmed off over two inches of the aft end and found that I could make one F-699 out of it. I cut and cleaned up the edges of this piece. This will be used on the left-hand side of the fuel selector cover.

I measured and hand-cut the two pieces for the top brackets out of the .063 sheet I have. I didn't have any .040 material so made a plea at my EAA Chapter meeting. Fred Coblentz came through with a sheet of .040 6061-T6 aluminum. This grade aluminum will still work for the side covers.
