Brief Description:  New camlocs

The new Camlocs studs that I ordered arrived yesterday and this afternoon I managed to escape from work at a decent hour, so I thought I'd see if I got the measurements correct. After fitting the cowl, I now realise that the previous studs supplied by Jabiru where far to long. I ordered the 2600-4 Camloc studs from Aircraft Spruce and they are the perfect fit. I have also finally added oil to the engine, with the oil cooler fitted it seemed dumb to leave it empty and allow rust to have its way, so in went a couple of litres, I’ll check again tomorrow to see if its needs a top up. Reading through the installation instructions that came with the oil cooler, I realised that Jabiru have supplied me with a certified oil cooler, from the USA rather than a cheap car transmission oil cooler, no wonder there was a delivery delay and a hefty price tag. The one really big irritation I have at present is that its to cold to do any painting, so I have ground to a halt as far as progress goes, so for this week I have set myself the task of fitting the wheel pants, its needs to happen at some point, so tomorrow night I'll start to tackle the job (I’m not looking forward to the skin irritation that the fibre glass will cause). I have an idea about how I will fit the wheel pants without cutting the centre section away, which I was planning on doing previously, as they are so bulky, stay tuned to see if a disaster unfolds.
