Brief Description:  Rear seat side consoles

This step is Chapter 24-2 and the other arm rest is way back in Chapter 16-1. It's the rear seat side consoles. Yes...a few days work. I have run out of divinycell .35" foam but have some .8" left so I'm using that but have to route it down to size. I tried cutting it in half but that is pretty tricky and I ended up with only one good half. The rest has just been 'reduced' which takes a while.

I had another little issue to fix on both sides of the rear bulkhead. I'd put the slots on the LHS at a distance suitable for the right hand side. Opps. Pic 1 shows I'm made some fillers and these are now in place. I'll recut the access slots after the consols are done. Now its over 5 years since I cut those slots and I read the plans better than I did then . Left means left side of the plane, not the left side of the thing in front of me. OK, got it!

Pic 3 is getting a nice right angle on the consoles after many hours of fitting and shaping and sizing (pic 2) where I was going to put them. The fuel feed lines are going to infringe a little later. I'll be cutting access as required.

I just used 5mt glue as I was in a hurry to mix some epoxy! Pins work really well as 'holders'. Pic 3 is a trial fit of the consols with my carefully thinned pieces and a while deciding where they will go relative to all the non standard stuff I have going on there. I've tried to keep the 'gap' for the GIB as wide as possible and it is pretty close to plans width. It does mean I'll be playing with a few tolerances to ensure various clearances are adequate. Such are the penalities for even the smallest change from the plans.
