Brief Description:  Elevator clean up and ends

I started on this yesterday. Its really a big clean up. First up was to contour the micro at the TE to the template. Really I know I'll have to add a bit more micro later so this was to get it within range. Then I worked on the overlap at the tube and smoothed all that out ending with sandpaper.

Then back to the TE which I've left a couple of mm long but otherwise pretty much at the final size and then of course the ends needed squaring off too.

Time for the weigh in!!!
Right elevator was 1lb 10.9ozs Left elevator was 1lb 11.1ozs

Wooohooo!

The Melvill weights were 2lbs 2ozs and 1lb 13ozs. OK to be fair Mikes were probably on the GU canard which is 10" longer. BUT I'm still feeling good about these numbers.

Finally today I did a one ply layup at the outboard ends of the elevators. This requires micro for the blue foam, pure epoxy for the bare glass areas and in the troughs I'd made for the flox corners, which gets flox troweled in. Then the one ply wetted out on foil and applied to the ends. I had a tiny bit of glass that needed pushing down 1/4" from the end so a great time for that and a tiny clamp. Small layups are fun and easy after a long day of fiddling and sanding.
