Brief Description:  Fitting those NC2 lugs

Ok this entry is paired with the last one. Yes I spent more than 20 hours over several days getting to know my elevators, the tubes and needing to be sure I understood what is again sooooo simple. Doh!

Once I knew which way round these things go in, I marked out the middle and very carefully placed the lugs in, then the long stainless hinge and finally drilled a 1/8" hole, just far enough. Then it all got disassembled and I deburred the hole.

All back together, clamped up and I finally put in the four rivets to seat the four lugs. Feeeeewwww. By now I could see what the filing that gets mentioned is about. Just a matter of lowering the tube to the level of the lug's slot. I have heard of people needing to go even further to get a full range of movement in the elevator. I'll do that if necessary and only the minimum, so we are good for now. I finished off with wiping a little 5mt epoxy into the exposed edges just to seal them so no micro seeps in when the tubes get glued onto the cores.

It may just be possible that I will build elevators.
