Brief Description:  Bottom Canard Skin

This was a nice layup. I had the skilled Darren Crompton to help out today. We slurried the blue foam which took about 90 minutes and then had a break. The room was 28C which moved things along.

You can see in Pic 1 the straight UNI fibers for the first ply. Given everything was prepared and the canard is not very wide its great to just lay the cloth out, have a fiddle and then call it good. I did have to slit the weave to fit the tabs and BNC antenna fitting. Easy job.

Ply 2 in the pic were two pieces of BID, My cloth is a bit wider than plans so no end pieces are needed, two pices crossed in the middle are long enough. After a discussion with Darren I added a patch of BID over the antenna fitting at this time, rather than later. Good suggestion as this made the final ply more uniform and just a bit tidier.

Pic 3 its completed with peel ply on the leading edge, peel ply at the joggled ends and while I was working on that Darren put some tape on my steel pipe and we placed that on the trailing edge to help keep thing level. You can see in that pic I've used a few blocks of wood to help keep thing straight.

Call it a day and I'm keeping the room at 28C overnight for a good cure.
