This step is just the beginning of fitting the nose wheel. It turns out that the fork was a touch long, despite being exactly plans length. It has to clear the instrument panel. It is not a debate.
It needs to fit in the wheel hole too. Just enough for testing and setting things up.
This sort of thing can take all day...which it did.
