Brief Description:  Outer Gear Tab Layup

After the big clean up I prepared all the glass for the outside tab layup. All the plywood was removed and the spaces cleaned out carefully. I first layed flox into the join to allow a smooth transition for the glass.

The 18 ply UND 12" long layup on the first side was straight forward but this time I trimmed them and constantly used my fingers to get the air out and keep the fibres straight.

The BID I had in layers of three and this was a lot easier to apply than one at a time. I was watchful for slippage and air and pretty much used my fingers rather than squeegee's or brushes.

I clampd very carefully as the whole shooting match will slide around when you put pressure on and I needed to ensure we remained without airgaps to the gearleg. I then did the second side and it was a lot easier overall than the first lot of layups a week or so ago.

Now its a matter of letting it get hard, drilling out the holes, a bit of a careful trim and then setting it all up again on the fuselage. Still more fun to come.
