Brief Description: Firewall drilled to skins, longerons to weldments
Drilled firewall to side skins and longerons to weldment. This was after trimming an additional 1/16" to 1/8" off of the longerons. They were still slightly hitting the brackets. For other builders, a straight cut on the longerons works fine. No need to follow the forward angle of the skin as the longeron (if cut at that angle) may interfere with the weldment. Does not create any edge distance issues if cut straight and the factory drawings indicate that. So much for trying to be crafty and keep as much metal as possible. Measured edge distance a zillion times and committed to drilling. All edge distances came out great. Not much room for error on the weldments.
Initial fabrication of F717 lower longerons. F713 auxilliary longerons cut, twisted and drilled to F770 skins and lower engine mount weldments. Edge distances great.
