Brief Description:  Attach connectors to the servo & begin install in

1. Followed Nuckoll's directions to solder the servo leads to a male DB-9 connector. Much of the metal shell was removed from the connector, per Nuckoll's directions. The wiring was done in the following pattern:

Pin Wire
1 Blue stripe wire--to indicator
2 Green stripe wire--to indicator
3 Red stripe wire--to indicator
4 White wire-- +12V to this wire drives servo in
5 White wire-- +12V to this wire drives servo out

Shrunk 3/32" diameter clear heat shrink tubing over each lead. Encased the the leads in "Amazing Goop - Household" adhesive. That is great stuff, by the way.

2. Attached crimped DB sockets to one end of the R. A. Allen supplied cable and inserted the sockets into a glued-together female DB-9 connector per Nuckoll's directions. Encased the leads in 3/32 heat shrink tubing, with a piece of 3/8 tubing over the combined leads. Encased the whole mess in Amazing Goop. The wiring pattern was:

Pin Wire
1 Brown
2 Green
3 Red
4 Black
5 White

3. Wired the whole system, including switch, indicator, and power supply together with test leads to test for function. Connected the indicator leads to the cable wires as follows:

Ind. Lead Cable Wire
Orange stripe Red
Green stripe Green
Blue stripe Brown
Red stripe +12V
Black stripe Ground
White Unused

Once electrical contact was secure, the system functioned perfectly. Note that when the servo is at max out position, the indicator light is at the "Label" end of the indicator. Also, I put a tape wire marker "O" on the white servo lead that drives the servo out with +12V, and an "I" marker on the white lead that drives the servo in with +12V. See connector in Fig. 1.

4. Encased the assembled connection in heavy duty heat shrink from the local electrical supply house (I have some (hopefully) lighter weight heat shrink tubing on order from McMaster-Carr.) See Fig. 2.
