Welcome to my experimental aircraft Web site. I live in Orange County, California and am two years into a three-year project to scratch build a Zenith Zodiac CH 650 in my two-car garage. Tail number N53XL is reserved.
I have also chosen to power it with a Corvair 164cid 100hp engine converted for aircraft use following the detailed conversion process perfected by William Wynne (www.FlyCorvair.com).
At the end of the project I will have an amateur-built aircraft that meets all the operating limitations of a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA). This will allow me to fly it with a Sport Pilot Certificate and do my own maintenance. Visit http://www.zenithair.com/news/sport-pilot.html for a summary of the advantages.
For the time being, I am not a pilot -- I am a parts builder. After that I will be an assembler of parts. Someday I will have an airplane. Then I will fly.
But in the meantime, I have a hobby that is personally challenging, cost-effective (when considering the end product) and very educational.
