You can see in picture 1 how the female DB9 will stop at the end of the removable stick. When installed, this DB9 is actually buried down in the base and expoxied in place. Here, I'm just fitting it. 2nd picture shows the 2 DB9 halves pushed together and I am getting ready to epoxy the male DB9 into the stick. A little blue tape on the female DB9 keeps it from getting epoxied together by mistake. I coiled the stick wires to give me some surplus in case I need to pull some out. Later on I realized you wouldn't do that, so I shortened the wiring up enough to allow installing the DB9 pins and then pushing it up into stick tube. Because there is a stop button also inside, you want to shrink wrap the wires for about 4 inches past that snap lock. I did that after these pictures..
