Brief Description:  WD-610 Control/Elevator Tube Fitted

Used the plan dimensions to locate the 1st of 2 holes in each F633 control tube mounting bracket and drilled, then reamed .189 for AN3 bolts. Then I positioned those brackets on the main spar which was sitting back on the wing jig, put an AN3 bolt through the one hole/spar and using my 3/16 pilot bushing I drilled the 2nd hole in the brackets #30, then .187 and finally reamed the hole and spar .189 for AN3 bolts.

The WD610 control/elevator tube was positioned and temporarily bolted to F604 bulkhead using the F633 brackets. It was obvious there needed to be sufficient spacer washers to remove side play in the WD610 when fitted to the brackets. After a little trial and error, I determined the pilot side needed two regular 960-10 and two thinner 960-10L washers. The co-pilot side needed two 960-10s and one thinner 960-10L I fed the washers onto a hardware store bolt and used crazy glue to wet the washers. Then used a wooden popsicle stick to apply pressure to set the washers in their proper place while the glue hardened. All the while I often turned the bolt to be sure it didn't set up too.
Another job out of the way. On to removing sufficient metal from the floor ribs to allow full motion of this control tube when mounted. It typically rubs on the top area of the rib webs that it sits inside of
Also, don't forget to ream all powder coated holes to either .189 for AN3 or .249 got AN4 bolts or the bolts won't fit.
