Brief Description:  Canopy Frame 2 - Begin Fitting Forward Canopy Fram

Guess what. The gooseneck hinges nestle into a notch of this split frame and you cannot spread the frame much without actually twisting the gooseneck hinges out of square. The notches are not big enough for much spreading. So, you take the thing off, gently un-saddle the gooseneck from the notch and with it resting out of the notch, you widen the inside edge of the notch. I had to remove about 3/16 from the inside of each hinge notch. Be careful not to cut into anything other than the notch. The gooseneck hinge actually gets final riveted to the forward channel once you've got the height of the hinge set correctly, and by widening the notches you are getting close to the edge distance safety margin for a couple of those rivets so take it slowly. I still have adequate edge distance.

See the notch gap to right of the red clamp. Thats how much I filed off the other (inner) side.

You always are tight on the inner side as you pull the frame outward to widen it.
