Brief Description:  Install Baggage Tie Downs 3

Found this great idea on VAF board. I have nutplates installed to secure my baggage floor. At strategic locations, I can replace 4 machine screws with 8/32 eye bolts. They thread into the existing nutplates. Imagine 2 evenly spaced across the rear and 2 evenly spaced across the front of the baggage area. Besides having the previously installed tie downs, these are plenty strong to stretch bungee chords across, even in conjunction with the larger tie downs. I put one into an existing nutplate to test. Wow. Nice idea. I'll relocate it to the rear and install the other 3. I used SS finishing washers as mini doublers so the eye bolt head can spread the load when I tighten them up instead of pushing directly on the screw hole in the baggage floor. The bungee hook fits nicely. I did purchase some S hooks too and I might crimp one end onto the eye bolt and leave the other end open to snag a chord or bungee hook.

Lowes did not have them. Home Depot did.

Example of mounted eye bolt. Permanent mount would be one row rearward.

Bungee hook slides in place very easily. Maybe S hooks for chord or rope.
