Brief Description:  Another Quickbuild Mistake Discovered

This is my 1st RV build. I have spent the last couple years learning as I go, sometimes the hard way. (2nd left aileron was perfect, etc) So last fall while working on the quickbuild fuselage I did not notice that the F657 Gussets (picture 2) were installed backwards on the F-605 bulkhead. When I figured it out, talked to Vans, they sent me a couple new ones and I fixed it. However, all those holes in the wrong spot on the F605 potentially interfered with the roll bar AN4 attach bolt holes. Ultimately, I was drilled and countersank the same extra holes in the new gussets and will install flush rivets in 3 of the 4 holes, and use the 4th hole as one of the bolt holes after I move it slightly when enlarging. Fast forward to now and I am at the forward fuselage. Things don't look right. It took me awhile to finally get it. The two F-646 forward top fuselage ribs are installed upside down and the flanges are supposed to face outward. These face inward. 2 of the corners of each rib are 90 degrees and the other 2 are 97 and 83 degrees by design. The 90's belong on the top. When correct, that is what keeps the identical forward tilt to the subpanel and the top of the firewall. Notice my subpanel and firewall are straight up and down. Thats because the 90 degree corners are at the bottom, not the top. Spoke with Van's and they provided new ribs and sub panel parts and which are in the mail. About 36 rivets or so to drill out. Yea, I'm not happy, but went out in the garage and got it done. Waiting for new parts.
