Brief Description: F657 on quickbuild are backwards!!
While I was fabricating the F621B caps that run along the cockpit top longerons back to the F605 bulkhead on this quickbuild fuselage, I noticed what's called the F657 Roll Bar Gussets looked different than I saw on other build sites. Referred to the plans and on DWG 32 , section C-C, and the gussets were displayed with the nice 1 1/2 inch radius curve facing forward. Notice on my quickbuild the curved portions are facing aft. Oh boy. Wrote Ken at Vans and he said the records show my quickbuild fuselage was shipped seven years ago. Way late to be making complaints!! I told him seven years ago I wouldn't even have known what was forward and backwards. He said no matter when it was made, that's just not right and he's shipping two replacements out. Drilled out these two and will use the hole patterns to match drill the correct ones when they arrive. Do you suppose the guy who did these backwards chuckled as he riveted them on?
One on each side facing wrong direction.
Co pilot side. Curved section is supposed to face forward.
