Manual Reference:  Peeling Vinyl Off
Brief Description:  Removing Vinyl Protectant from skins

On the inboard skins, I did what others suggested and used a 1 inch wooden round dowel to wrap the vinyl around as I rolled it slowly down the sheet of aluminum. Frankly, it did not do that great of a job and worse, when you're done you have to unwrap it from the wooden dowel...Forget that!!
For the larger outboard sheets, I just started peeling it from a corner and slowly pulled it as I wrapped the vinyl in on itself. That gave a better grip to hold onto as you peeled it first on the one end, then in the middle, then on the lower end over and over. You can see the wad forming half way across the outboard lower skin. Worked just fine. I can't get over how 15 year old vinyl still just came off with little problem. There was some very minor surface corrosion spots here and there which came up with scotchbrite. After about 1000 dimples, I had one hole which was unacceptable (didn't properly set the dimple die before hitting it and slightly enlarged the hole) and I will put an oops rivet in there after drilling it for a 1/8 in rivet.
