Brief Description:  Part 1 - Trial fit of lower cowling

With the top cowl clecoed in place I adjusted the vetterman exhaust tubes for bottom cowl clearance. Clecoed the front cowling together, slid the lower cowling flush with the sides and bottom of the fuselage and taped together. Took some pictures. Have a concern here before I move forward.

In the pictures below you can see that the top half of the cowling is fairly consistent with the spacing with regards to the spinner. the top cowling moves slightly aft at the bottom of the half ring. When the bottom is put on there is a gap that gets progressively large towards the bottom of the spinner plate.

Witth the fuselage leveled front to back, I put a level on the spinner plate. it reads 89.9 degrees with respect to the longeron. That seems as it should be.

The gap at the top of the spinner plate is 4/32" The gap at the bottom is 19/32".

Will need to consult Vans on this as I am not sure if this is acceptable and what can be done to resolve the situation.
