Here's how I taped the ends of the canopy latch C-710 Push rod I found it difficult keeping the tap parallel with the rod while starting the tap. The tap does not go in easily. A good clamp on the rod is a must. So, I used my lathe. The chuck has good clamping force. The center rest thingy was used to keep the tap parallel with the rod. I turned the chuck by hand. Worked great.
