Brief Description: Canopy Latch Handle, Mark Hole Locations. 2
So, I've thought about the best way to get the canopy handle mounted. Cutting the slots in the skin and getting the Canopy latch Angles drilled such that the handles are centered in the slot seems like a great potential for screw ups. Here is what I've come up with.
I first marked on the fuselage side skin the horizontal rivet location center lines. Then I made 2 Canopy Latch Angles with the rivet holes drilled into them. These are sacrificial in that they are only used as a template to drill the rivet holes in the side skin from the outside. And also will be used later to guide my file while cutting the canopy latch handle slots in the skin. The actual Canopy Latch Angles will be made later and will be drilled using the skin as a drill guide.
