Brief Description: Aileron - Enlarge spar holes from #30 to #12.
I had to pause at this step. the holes that bolt the aileron hinge brackets get enlarged from #30 to #12. These guys are steel. The inboard end has 3 such holes and the outboard end has 2. My big concern was the the bracket would move durring the drilling process. I really wanted to preserve the original location. The outboard is difficult because it only has 2 clecos. Thus you only have 1 cleco holding it while you drill the other. Whats to keep it from moving?
I searched the forums and logs and didn't see a good approuch for this task. I was suprized by this. I came up with the following idea and it worked well and was easy.
You can see what I did. I used small wood blocks and a clamp holding these puppies down. I used the clamp on the inboard bracket that has 3 clecoes as well. The 2 clecos are not enough to keep it secure while drilling the third. Take my word for it.
It's a bummer to use a drill bit from your Avery kit to drill steel. Steel is hard on bits. Well, screw that. I could care less. I used lots of Boe Lube.
