Brief Description: Measure out hole locations in F-695 Gusset.
Here is the F-695 Gusset all marked up for hole locations. As others have done the right angle was a few degrees off so I sanded the forward end to the correct angle. In doing so the piece becomes about 1/16” shorter. Now that shortens the rivet spacing as specified in the plans. What to do?
You need 10 rivets forward on the piece that will go through the longeron and firewall weldment and 5 rivets aft on the piece that will just go through the weldment. The rivet spacing needs to be such that you have a rivet equally spaced on either side where the weldment ends. So, from looking at my picture you will see that the first 10 holes are ½” spacing as per plans and the last 5 holes have 7/16” spacing instead of ½”. This worked out great with good edge distance all around.
