Brief Description: Fuselage - Route static, 705 Bulkhead. Part 1.
The plans never talk about this but it has to be done and thanks to Bruce Swayze it was brought to my attention. He has a great RV7A log going at www.brucesrv7a.com. I visited him and his project and he says “Hey check this out” and shows me a hole for the static tube through his 705 bulkhead. At first I thought “No way am I putting a ¼” hole through that heavy structural angle at the top of the 705”. But after looking into it and seeing a small blerp in the R-Vator showing this done I realized it is the right thing to do.
So, here it is. I actually had to go just a tad bigger then ¼”. I opened it up to a Letter G drill bit. I think it’s 0.26” instead of 0.25”.
I marked the hole and then matched drilled 1/8” through a piece of scrap clamped into position. I’ve been doing this to get holes where I want them. Then enlarged to #19, then ¼”, then the letter G bit.
