Brief Description:  Drill fuselage center section for #8 scews.

I've been waiting for my Avery order to get 70 #8 black clecoes so that I can final drill the center section floors. They came today. Cool. The rear seat floor and the baggage ribs get clecoed up with #30 clecoes. They all get replaced with #8 clecoes as you drill along.

I used all 70 of the new #8 clecoes so it was just enough. I could have done one side at a time but I really wanted the whole thing clecoed up for the drilling.

Here is my plan.

I’ll be putting pan head screws every where in the front seat floor where they would have been pan head anyway. This forward seat floor is thick and doesn’t make a crisp #8 dimple for a flush screw.

The only flush screws will be aft of the rear piano hinge in the seat and the interior baggage ribs. The outside ribs in both these areas get pan head however.

The 705 spar is getting pan head. This is where the baggage floor over lap the seat floor and the #8 dimple are not great close to the edge.

Here is the platenut count I have to order.

54, Round up to 60, K1000-08, pan head, double lug platenuts, $0.48 each, $28.80 total.
14, Round up to 20, MS21051-L08, pan head, single lug platenuts, $0.75 each, $28.80 total.
62, Round up to 70, K1100-08, Flush, double lug platenuts, $0.56 each, $39.20 total.
12, Round up to 20, MS21053-L08, Flush, Single lug platenuts, $0.90 each, $18.00 total.
80, AN515-8R8 pan head screws, $0.07 each, $5.60 total
90, AN509-8R8 flush screws, $0.07 each, $6.30 total
$112.90 total for this modification. Ouch.

I’ll weigh this hardware to see what the weight cost is.

Total weight of platenuts and screws is 1 lb 12 oz. Ouch...
