Brief Description:  F-716 Seat Rib - Access Plate. Part 1.

Time to work on the seat rib access plate. The removed access plates help to install and remove the control stick assembly. The DWG’s show that only the 2 center ribs have this access plate. I saw a log entry on Vans Forums that many builders are installing access plates on the center 4 ribs. This way the control stick assembly can be totally assembled on the bench and then dropped in. With only 2 access plates you will have to assemble the stick assembly in place, including the thin spacer washers.

I wanted to make 2 more F-617B’s but didn’t have any 0.063 material. So I just bought a couple more from Vans. A buck twenty each.

Here I deburred and matched drilled. The outside hole is drilled to a #19 for a number 8 screw.

The center holes on the seat rib access plate get machine counter sunk. I was contemplating using small head NAS rivets but thought other wise. NAS rivets will be used for platenuts only.
