I like to finish the edges on any new part I have to deal with first. Get it done and out of the way. Plus it helps me to get familiar with the new part.
Scotch Bright wheel straight on then the 2 corners all the way around. Then floss the teeth with Emery Cloth #220 from Harbor Freight.
