I'm nervous working on the longerons. I don't know why. Well hell, yes I do. I'm afraid of messing up. Any kind of messup is due to a mental error that could have been avoided. With errors come regret. I hate regret.
Any way, Imgae one shows the ends marked up. You can check the angled mark by making sure it's parallel to the aft end of the 714 Aft Deck as is shown in image 1, top longeron.
I don't have pictures of the process, just the end result. But, I drilled an 1/8" near the curved section then used the dremel tool cutoff wheel to remove the bulk of it all. Then I used a dremel tool 1/4" diameter sanding drum to do the curved part and the vixen file to the straight part.
I'm liking the vixen file more and more these days. Files smooth.
Imgae 3 shows a perfect 0.5" measurement from the end to the outside corner of the cutout. Notice the horazontal line. It is showing that the cutouts are the same size. I strive for perfection. Never get it, but I like my cutouts.
