Brief Description:  Aileron - Machine counter sink water pipe.

Well now. You hace choices when it comes to machining these holes in the water pipe. The plans say you can get away with a normal 120 degree 1/4" drill bit. Some use a special pipe clamp in the drill press. I decided not to use a normal drill bit. With out a pilot I can amagine the chatter you'll get.

I just used 2 clamps and secured it to the edge of the work bench. I used the 1/8" counter sink bit and cage. I was going to use Boe Lube but I didn't even do that. Just went at it. Did a fine job. The question is how dull is my counter sink bit?

Because your counter sinking on a curve, you don't get a round counter sink. Its ovel as you might expect. That's cool and normal. So, then how do you gage the depth?

I went just a bit lower then the surface on the sides of the holes next to the edge of the pipe. Consequently, I went a great deal lower on sides of the hole along the length. I think it makes sence to use the side of the holes next to the edge of the pipe to gage the depth.
