Brief Description:  Pitot Static Part 1, Prepare pop rivet.

So, decision time. Lots of builders have been using an alternate pitot static source kit instead of the supplied Vans cheap pop rivet design. Well, I searched it out and decided to use the cheap Vans design.
Check out the forums and read the pilot reports for yourself. But the bottom line is that the Vans design works very well and it was hard to find and real complaints.

I did however make a modification to the instructions. The instructions say to “Set the rivet” and then “Punch out the center mandrel”. Well, I decided to not set the rivet at all. So the first thing I did was to punch out the mandrel. Why am I doing this? I’ll be pro sealing the pop rivet in place. The rivet head is large and has lots of surface area to adhere to. The rivet shaft is long and even with out setting(expanding) the rivet it fits very tight in the supplied tubing. Pro sealing the inside as well.

All said and done I’m glad I went this route.
