Fitted the Vertical Stab today. Began by trimming the VS-702 front spar as indicated on DWG 27A. Clamp the vert stab to the F-712 bulkhead, centering and set the height as required. Measured from the top of the vert stab to the tips on the horizontal stab to check for vertical alignment... (probably measured this about 40 times before drilling anything) This is where I deviated a bit from what the books says... I did not want to have to shim the F-712D elevator stop with a single washer. I fitted the F-712D to the vert stab first, and then set the offset on the forward spar. what this accomplished was the F-712D elevator stop was offset the thinkness of the washer, then drilled to the longerons. Drilled the forward spar to the horizonal F-781 attachment plate, riveted the plate the vert stab. Temporarily bolted everything together, and checked measurements everything checked out.
