Just wanted to post some flight test data... if anyone is interested. I know I was...
I now have about 12.6 hours since major overhaul on the Lycoming O-360-A1A. Temps are still running a bit high, but are beginning the stablize. #3 is about 15 degrees warmer. I need to tweak the baffling a bit as expected. I am varying my power settings between 65 - 75% for the breakin. Oil consumption is fairly stable at this point. leaning to peak/+25ROP at 65% and running full rich at 75% and above.
I am running Dual Emags "P" with the "A" curve. advances the timing to about 34 degrees. So temps will run a bit warmer than standard mags. I have to limit my climb rates to about 500 to 750 per minute for now, or the temps want to hover in the 425-435F range.
The air here in Florida is beginning to warm up, with afternoon temps in the 90's.
I also set the prop angle on the Whirlwind to 21.5 degrees, this gives me a cruise prop. Might back that off a bit. 20.5 to 21.0. 1 degree makes a 100rpm difference or so.
