I had another trip to OKC for the job that required Sunday travel due to the class starting on Monday, so I took my usual diversion and came in on Thursday and went to the Novak Aircraft Factory in order to lend a hand to Jim.
Our goal was to get the landing gear fairings on and prep and hang the engine. It it always great when Rick, Rob, or Ralph come over and we make progress through the synergy of extra hands and brains working on the project......so it is when Jim and I get a weekend to team up and work on his project.
It took a while to clean one of his fairings that needed to be redone and then we focused on getting the two fairings aligned and set in place. Jim is using the one piece Grove gear and it requires the gear fairings for the Rocket conversion to be used so a bit more work involved in the install......but we got er dun!
We prepped the engine with installing the governor...installing the restrictor fitting and other things and Jim called Joe who has an engine lift and would assist Sunday morning. Alas one problem....no engine bolt hardware in stock. We made a plea on VAF for anyone in the DFW that may have some....with no luck...so no engine install happened.
I did score a great "Bob" hat that Teresa, Jims wife gave me....how cool is that!!!!
