Brief Description:  Exhaust Hanger and Tap Longeron holes

One of the main tasks I wanted to complete today was the exhaust hanger. I am going with a modification for the hanger that I feel is better than the stock method of using tubing and rubber hoses.

I wanted to get some corrosion protection on the hanger brackets so I ordered some black oxide solutions to do-it-myself here at the house. The solutions were relatively inexpensive for the sample kit that allows you to try the product....about $60 with shipping. I only used a fraction of the chemical and it did a great job of putting the black oxide finish on the mild steel brackets. Refer to Log entry 11/18/2023.

The plating was done after I drilled the holes in the bracket parts. We will see how it holds out during the long run but it is a great rust preventative overall. Rob and I then continued to get the hangers installed.

I decided to use 1/8 X 3/4 aluminum as opposed to the heavier stainless steel piece that I had picked up. Aluminum should work fine.as I couldn't find any 1/16 inch stainless that was my preference. I then made patterns for the fiberglass reinforced rubber straps that needed to be attached to the aluminum angle and Adel clamps on the engine mount and cut the straps. Of course the alum angle was easy.....but of course Adel clamps always have to fight you....and they did this time. Hangers are completed!
