I began to work on final stage sanding. Instructions have you use a piece of sandpaper to go in between the light and the wingtip with the grit side toward the wingtip. You then pull the paper back and forth between the light and tip holding slight pressure on the back of the light. If you can't slide the paper you release a little pressure from the back of the light and continue going around the perimeter of the light till the gap is even all around. It is a work of patience.
I was using sheet paper when I realized in the shop I had rolls of emery cloth. I went and got a strip of the 180 grit and started using it instead of the sheet. It worked a whole lot better because I could get a 15 inch piece and with the cloth backing held up a whole lot better!!!
When it is finished the inboard portion of the light should be approximately 1/2 inch sticking out and the outboard still at about 2 inches or so and the face of the light lens within 3 degrees of perpendicularity of the side of the light bay side wall. Right light still needs some work before calling it done.
