Well after many calls to all the local places I could not find the Aeroshell 22 grease that Grove recommends. I did find it at an airport just north of here so I planned to fly up and pick some up, but the weather would not cooperate. Looking over things more I realized that I can still mount the tires, I can access the bearings with the tire on, so I mounted both main tires, can’t wait to see them on the gear but that will be a few months away. I am only doing the tires because I want to get something done with the last day I have before I go on my next trip.
I was going to do the nose wheel as well but discovered that the tube supplied by Van’s has the valve stem off center, but the opening for the stem in the Grove wheel is centered. Many have used the Van’s tube with the Grove wheel but it seem like the off center stem is asking for trouble. I did a search on VAF and this subject came up in a recent thread but no answers as to if a tube with the stem centered is available. At least the mains are done.
