Brief Description:  Riveted canopy track

I worked a trip over Christmas that hit the extremes, layover in Salt Lake City at 6 degrees followed by layovers in Maui at 82 degrees. I have one day before I go out again. My order from Spruce came in so I wanted to use the Touch and Prep Alodine pen to treat the antenna doublers and floor areas. This pen is very slick but way expensive. After the alodine was done I prepared and primed the canopy rear rail parts and all of the remaining aluminum parts which are mostly wheel brake support brackets and the flap fairings. It was kind of weird to see that I have gone though all of the aluminum parts in the kit, no more left.

After the primer dried I riveted the track to the spacer, I goofed up one rivet and had to drill it out, a different proposition when double flush riveted, There is no shop head to get the pliers on to pull the stem out after drilling out the rivet head. I ended up drilling almost all the way through the rivet then used a punch and mallet to remove the rivet.

While I had the squeezer set up I installed the nut plates on the VHF antenna doubler plates and then clecoed the doubler in place and test fit the antenna. That is it for 2009; hopefully 2010 will be the year this baby flies!
