I spoke with Ken at Van’s today and he was stumped with my problem and did not know of an AN320 low profile castle nut or anyone else having this problem. He was going to look into the fit with some bolts they have in stock and get back to me. Then I had the idea that maybe there are variations between the nuts so I tried a couple of other nuts and sure enough some would snug down enough for me to install the cotter pin without forcing it into place. Ken did get back to me, he learned that Van’s does in fact have the AN320 nuts for just this situation; I am not sure why they just don’t put them in the kit. I guess because you can make the AN310 nut work you just have to find the right one.
