Brief Description:  Riveted on pedal extensions

I test fit the Safety Trim control box on the wall of the battery bay. I was not sure if there might be EMI/RFI issues so I sent and email off to TCW support. I was expecting an answer sometime Monday, but much to my surprise there was an answer within the hour, I love that. So many times you get slowed down or the rhythm is thrown off waiting for an answer to a question or more normally waiting for parts to come in the mail. I turned my attention to the rudder pedals since I want to make sure there is no interference between the nut plates on the wall and the pedals. The trim module will sit lower on the wall than the other items attached there.

I riveted on the pedal exertions then turned to attaching them to the rudder pedal assembly. I first had to attach the fittings to the master cylinder then attach the reservoirs to the cylinders. Instead of the reservoir forward of the firewall with all the associated hoses, I will have two separate reservoirs one on each master cylinder. This may mean I will lose the most forward adjustment position in the pedals but from test fitting by sitting in the plane I think I will be using the 3rd hole aft for flight.

When trying to get the cotter pin in the AN24-31 bolt I discovered that the castle nut bottoms out before it aligns enough with the hole to get the pin in place. I called it quits to see what Van’s has to say. The plans call for a regular AN310-3 castle nut; I read one builder comment that said there is a low profile AN320-3 castle nut just for this purpose.
