Brief Description:  Installed OAT probe & Rear stick pin

I started off today setting up and testing a metal punch, (Whitney Punch) I picked up from Harbor Freight, you can read more about this under builder tips.

I spent more time than I like to admit head scratching about how to lay out the electrical system, mainly the Safety Trim controller. I just don’t want it way in the back when most of the connections are going to be to the control sticks and the switch goes on the panel. I decided to give that up for now and since my OAT probe came in the mail I decided to install the probe. The D-180 kit I bought from Spruce came with a 2 wire OAT probe but that has to connect to the D-180 and this would have meant extending the wires to reach the tail area which I like better as a position for the probe as compared to under the wing, so I bought the 3 wire probe that connects to the remote compass. I will use the other probe to keep tabs on the engine compartment temperature, sort of like a fire warning system; at least the guys at Dynon said I should be able to hook up both probes.

Next I laced the OAT probe wire to the main bundle. I then moved onto protecting and securing the wires to the tail strobe. I still had some motivation to keep working on something, so I riveted the F-810 bulkhead in place I never did this bulkhead when I riveted on the other bulkheads. The last thing, kind of off track was to drill the hole to hold the rear stick in its socket. The plans call for a bolt straight though but someone came up with the idea of the snap pin, it means one less hole which is always good. The pin seems a little short but with all of my might I can’t pull it out when it is installed. I am off for a couple of days to attend my 30 year HS reunion which should be fun.
