Brief Description:  Installed nut plates for rear rudder pedal guides

All I did today was drill and rivet the holes that get nut plates for the seat ribs and the rear rudder pedal guides. It was only about 12 nut plates but some were difficult to set. The nut plates on the gear weld mounts took an hour, 25 minutes for 3 of the four rivet and then the rest of the hour trying to figure out how to set the most forward rivet. The area is very tight and I did not have a bucking bar that would work. I kept trying all kinds of ideas, what finally worked was to take one of my rivet sets and use the flat bottom as a bucking bar.

After tackling this the other nut plates went much more quickly. I then tried to cleco together the front consoles and the associated ribs. Well the left fit just fine but the right console was bent and drilled wrong. You can see the big gap when the rib is partially clecoed to the console. I did email Van’s about this and they said the part was formed wrong and that they could send me one when they get them made. They also offered a suggestion to try and fix the parts I already have which amounted to drilling new holes which would cause some figure 8 holes, they said to use a double under it, I opted to wait on the new parts. I am out of town for a while so no more work until I return.
